Rolex Submariner Date Black Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet 1454153
- Product Review (submitted on 26 October 2017):
- I really enjoyed my Sub for the almost 30 years I owned one. I bought one in 1986 at a price no one here will want to hear! Let's just say that if these watches keep going up in price that soon it will be 10x what I paid for mine.
Several things that you need to understand: Sirst, this watch is HEAVY. After you wear it for a while it won't be much of an issue but I don't know if I would recommend anyone going from wearing no watch regularly to wearing this. Second, you probably know this, but the watch is wound (mostly) by wearing it. If you don't wear this everyday or at least 5-6 days a week, don't bother. Of course, you can reset it and wind it with the knob but it is designed and built to be worn. Third, it may take you a while to get the fit on your wrist just right. They come with an extra link or two and the clasp has multiple settings. It is best to have a Rolex jeweler set this for you and maybe teach you how to do some easy settings. Even after years of owning this, I was unsure of how to reset the band properly. Finally, while this watch isn't the size of a Suunto, it is big. It will get noticed. I never felt insecure by wearing it, but I am a fairly big guy who few are going to rob. I don't want to discourage anyone from getting one of these if they want them, but be aware of certain risks.
I sold my Sub in 2014 (for 4x what I paid for it!!) simply because I hadn't worn it in years and wanted someone else to enjoy it. However, I'm still a big fan! The new ones I think are better than mine in many ways.
